Shortly after the first few waves of "Password Reset" spam hack reports- Arena Net took down its password reset feature- which supports this theory. Of course- there are TONS of ways to protect against this kind of abuse (Detecting the location/volumes of password resets, and keeping track of invalid authentication links being a few).

If a Guild Wars 2 account is linked, both your Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 passwords will be changed to the same password. Changing your account name on that site may result in you not being able to login to the game.

I still had my jewel case of GW1 with the access key in it (a little rubbed but legible) plus my access keys for Nightfall, Eye of the North, Guild Wars 2, and Character names. I have two account so the one I can log into work as normal, but the one I can not have this issue, so one need be fully logged out to experience that this is an issue. The email is secure. They had me reset the password finally by manually sending me a reset email. I succeeded but it wouldn't accept the password logging in. There is something seriously wrong with the login server. Whenever I do an automated password reset I get nothing. The servers refuse to interact with me email.
Thank you for your reply! I tried both gmail and outlook now and got none of them to work, tried 4 different outlooks so far and no luck. Tried auto generated password and tried to make "simpler" but good ones myself and still no luck.
